Ikat Tulip was inspired by the natural ikat-style patterns and markings found in variegated tulips. Geometric shapes were painted with large brushstrokes on a textured paper, in order to create the appearance of an ikat weave. These painterly motifs were then overlaid to add further texture and depth, camouflaging the simple tulip repeat.
